Mendoza City and Around
In the heart of Argentina's most famous wine producing region of the same name, the city of Mendoza is nestled in a wide valley, near to where the Andes begin their steady climb towards the border with Chile. The city is lively and pleasant with wide, shady streets and plazas.

From Mendoza you can travel to picturesque vineyards, and sample excellent wines with guided bodega (winery) tours, wine tastings and lunches. Due to its proximity to the Andes, there are also plenty of opportunities for rafting, horse riding and trekking.

Mendoza province is home to Aconcagua, South America's tallest peak. Following the panoramic Alta Montana route through the Andes, you can view Aconcagua and the statue of Christ Redeemer, perched at 4000 metres as a symbol of friendship between Argentina and Chile.
